Getting Started

What kinds of recipes can I upload?

Any handwritten recipe works — index cards, notebook pages, loose scraps of paper, even old newspaper clippings. As long as the text is reasonably visible in your photo, our AI can read it. The messier and more loved the better.

How many recipes can I add to my book?

It depends on your chosen edition:
  • Keepsake Edition (softcover): up to 16 recipes
  • Family Edition (hardcover): up to 34 recipes
  • Heirloom Edition (hardcover): up to 98 recipes

Not sure you have enough? Start uploading — you might be surprised how many you find once you start looking.

Can I come back and finish my book later?

Absolutely. Your book saves automatically as a draft every time you make a change. Just log back into your account at any time and pick up exactly where you left off. There's no time limit on drafts.

How do you read my handwriting?

When you upload a photo of a recipe card, we analyse the image and extract the recipe title, ingredients, and method steps automatically. We handle a wide range of handwriting styles — neat or scrawly, old or new. You'll always get to review and correct the extracted text before it goes into your book, so nothing goes to print without your approval.

What if something gets read incorrectly?

Every recipe goes through a review step before it's added to your book. If anything has been misread — a quantity, an ingredient, a step — you can correct it directly on screen. We do the heavy lifting, and you do the quality check.

Can multiple people contribute recipes to the same book?

Not directly — the book is tied to one account. However, you can collect recipe photos from family members (by WhatsApp, email, or photographing their cards yourself) and upload them all from your account. A great way to gather the whole family's recipes in one place.

Your Book

What size are the books?

The size depends on your edition:
  • Keepsake Edition: 20×20cm (8×8 inch) square, softcover
  • Family Edition: 20×20cm (8×8 inch) square, hardcover
  • Heirloom Edition: 21×28cm (8×11 inch) portrait, hardcover

All books are printed in full colour on 170gsm silk paper with a matt lamination cover — the same quality you'd find in a bookshop.

What's the difference between the editions?

The editions differ in size, format, and recipe capacity:
  • Keepsake Edition: up to 16 recipes, softcover, up to 36 pages — perfect for a focused collection
  • Family Edition: up to 34 recipes, hardcover, up to 72 pages — ideal for a full family recipe book
  • Heirloom Edition: up to 98 recipes, hardcover, up to 200 pages — the complete family archive

All editions include handwriting extraction, full colour printing, chapter dividers by meal type, and space for handwritten notes.

Can I see a preview before I order?

Yes — once you've uploaded and approved your recipes, you can preview your complete book page by page before paying. What you see in the preview is exactly what gets printed.

What's on the cover?

Your cover shows your book title and family name in elegant typography. You can choose from two cover colour styles (Keepsake and Family editions) or three styles including a custom photo option (Heirloom Edition). You design your cover inside the app before ordering.

What's inside the book besides recipes?

Every book includes a cover page, title page, table of contents, and a dedication page at the back. Each recipe gets its own double-page spread. We also include a few blank recipe template pages and notes pages at the back — perfect for adding new recipes by hand after the book arrives.

Are the original handwritten recipe photos included?

Yes — a small image of the original handwritten recipe card is printed alongside the typed recipe on every page. It gives the book a genuine keepsake quality, showing both the beautiful typeset version and the original handwriting it came from.

Can I order more than one copy?

Yes — you can order multiple copies at checkout. Perfect for sharing with siblings, giving as gifts, or keeping one copy and giving others away.

Will my book have blank pages?

No. Your book is printed at exactly the right page count for your recipes, with a small number of handwriting template pages added to fill any remaining space. You'll never receive a book with obviously empty pages.

Ordering & Payment

How do I pay?

We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely via Stripe — one of the world's most trusted payment processors. All prices are in pounds sterling (£).

Is my payment secure?

Yes — all payments are handled by Stripe, certified to the highest level of payment security (PCI DSS Level 1). We never see or store your card details.

Can I cancel my order?

You can cancel any time before your book goes to print. Once your order has been confirmed and printing begins, cancellation is no longer possible as production starts immediately. You'll receive an email the moment your book goes to print, so you'll always know where things stand.

Can I make changes after ordering?

Unfortunately not — once an order is placed and printing begins, changes cannot be made. Please take your time reviewing your book in the preview before checking out. If you spot a mistake after ordering, contact us at support@keepsakekitchen.co.uk and we'll do our best to help.

What currency do you charge in?

All prices are in pounds sterling (£ GBP). If you're ordering from outside the UK, your bank or card provider will handle the currency conversion at their standard rate.

Do you offer discounts or promotional codes?

We occasionally run promotions — follow us on Instagram and Facebook to be the first to hear about any offers.

Delivery

How long does delivery take?

For UK orders, allow 5–7 working days from the moment you place your order. International orders typically take 7–14 working days depending on your location. These timeframes include both printing and shipping — your book goes to print the moment payment is confirmed.

Do you deliver outside the UK?

Yes — we deliver worldwide. We print locally in over 32 countries to ensure fast delivery wherever you are. All prices are in pounds sterling regardless of delivery location.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your delivery address. UK shipping typically costs £3–4. International shipping varies by destination and is shown clearly before you pay — there are no surprise charges.

How will I know when my book has shipped?

You'll receive an email the moment your order goes to print, and another email with your tracking number the moment it ships. You can also check your order status at any time in your account.

What if I'm not home when it's delivered?

If you're not home, the courier will follow their standard procedure — leaving a card, leaving with a neighbour, or attempting redelivery. Your tracking details will help you manage delivery.

Can I send the book directly to someone else as a gift?

Yes — simply enter the recipient's address as the delivery address at checkout. We don't include any pricing information inside the package, so it arrives as a perfect gift.

One of my recipes was read incorrectly — can I fix it?

Yes — you can edit any recipe at any time before placing your order. Go to your book, find the recipe, click 'Review & Edit' and correct anything that needs changing. Once you're happy, re-approve the recipe and it'll update in your book preview automatically.

Are my uploaded recipe photos stored safely?

Yes — your uploaded photos are stored securely and retained for 12 months after your last activity. This means you can come back and create a new edition without re-uploading everything. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
